ABSTRACT

Carcinoid tumor is the most commonly observed tumor of appendix. The patients generally admit with the clinical signs and symptoms of acute appendicitis. The basic treatment in carcinoid tumors of appendix is surgery. Appendectomy is sufficient as the tumors smaller than 1 cm have no metastasis. Appendectomy or right hemicolectomy are performed according to the pathological findings in tumors between 1-2 cm. Right hemocolectomy should be performed in tumors larger than 2 cm, by considering the potential for metastasis. In the current article, in the light of the literature, we presented the treatment approach in an appendix carcinoid tumor, smaller than 2 cm with minimal mesoappendix involvement which was incidentally diagnosed.
