Mechanical bowel preparation before elective colorectal surgery is common surgical practice. Mechanical bowel preparation is considered to reduce the rate of postoperative infectious complications. In recent literature the value of this procedure is under discussion. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of mechanical bowel preparation before elective colorectal surgery.
