ABSTRACT

Tuberculosis of gastrointestinal tract may involve any portion of bowel extending from oesophagus to rectum, howewer; ileocecal region are to be the most frequent involved areas. Isolated or segmental tuberculous involvement of the colon is extremely rare. The diagnosis of colon tuberculosis is usually difficult, especially in cases without any manifestation of pulmoner tuberculosis. The symptoms and signs of colon tuberculosis are non-spesific. It may mimic many other abdominal diseases such as infectious or inflamatuar procesess, crohn disease and malignancy. Although intestinal tuberculosis is rarely seen in western countries, it continues to be a common disease responsible for morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients. Herein we report a patient with isolated colon tuberculosis mimicking colon cancer without history of pulmoner tuberculosis.
