ABSTRACT

In parallel with the advances in laparoscopic surgery and endoscopic interventions, transluminal surgery without any scars, namely NOTES, has come to the stage. Utilizing both laparoscopic and endoscopic techniques, NOTES is a candidate alternative to classical surgery in the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal diseases, especially considering the elimination of abdominal incisions and complications related to incisions. This article deals with the development of NOTES and its further possible role in surgery.
