ABSTRACT

Although the prolapsed portion of rectum is rarely strangulated and often becomes incarcerated. Various techniques are focused on decreasing edema but none of them accepted as a gold standard. Rectal prolapse particularly in elderly with incontinence, could progress to incarceration which make patient’s life disaster along with severe pain and rectal bleeding. That has been agreed as emergent clinical condition which should be treated in a short time. There is no gold therapeutic approach; thougt more than 100 types of treatment modality have been described. Surgery under general anaesthesia should be performed in appropriate cases. In this study, we present a case with large incarcerated rectal prolapse.
